Start Copilot training with a task you understand

Beginners benefit from a small task whose result they can check independently. Choose a short document, a fictional email thread or a simple worksheet with a known answer. Define what a useful result would look like before asking the tool to produce it.

Compare the practical requirements

Compare the four public courses by application: Excel for worksheet work, Word for documents, Outlook for email workflows and PowerPoint for presentations. Each lists two hours and requires Copilot access. If the underlying application is unfamiliar, consider its foundational course first.

Work through an example

A first exercise can specify the reader, purpose, source and desired format in the prompt. Inspect the output for unsupported details, missing qualifications and incorrect numbers. Refine one instruction and compare the result. This develops a review habit rather than teaching the learner to accept a fluent answer automatically.

Decide what to book or request

Before attending, confirm the work account and approved data policy. Keep sensitive records out of practice unless their use is explicitly authorised. The goal is a repeatable, supervised workflow in which the learner can explain both the assistance received and the checks performed.
