Refresh the bookkeeping process, not only the terminology
A useful refresher checks whether you can follow a transaction from its source document into the records and then into a report. Choose a small fictional set containing a sale, purchase and payment. Explain each entry and reconcile a simple account before deciding which concepts need review.
Compare the practical requirements
Compare the Bookkeeping Fundamentals outline for double entry, ledgers, trial balances, reporting and reconciliation. If the concepts are comfortable but the software controls have changed, compare the QuickBooks or Sage outlines instead. The right refresher addresses the actual point of uncertainty.
Work through an example
Keep an exception in the exercise, such as a missing reference or a duplicated amount, and document how you would investigate it. The goal is a process that remains explainable when something is wrong, rather than a memorised sequence that works only on a perfect example.
Decide what to book or request
For a team enquiry, identify the records staff maintain and the review responsibility held by the supervisor or adviser. Use safe demonstration material and distinguish learning from correcting live historical records. Ask how practice and follow-up will be handled within the agreed scope.
