Practise accessible document authoring in Word
Accessible-document practice begins with meaningful structure and readable content. An automated checker can identify some issues, but the author still needs to review whether the document makes sense.
An illustrative practice exercise
Use a fictional service guide containing headings, a table, a link and an informative image. Improve the document so a reader can navigate its structure and understand the image’s purpose.
- Use semantic headings in a logical order.
- Write descriptive link text and useful image alternatives.
- Review the table structure and run the available accessibility checker.
Check the result
Check reading order and whether meaning depends on colour alone. Resolve relevant findings, then review the actual content rather than treating a clean checker as a compliance guarantee.
Confirm the right training scope
Tell us the required document standard, Word version and audience. Accessibility-specific depth needs an agreed scope; formal conformance testing or legal certification is not implied.
