Define KPIs before designing the dashboard
A KPI needs a decision, an owner and a consistent definition. Training should make the measure’s period, numerator, denominator and target visible before adding charts. A coloured indicator is not useful when different viewers interpret it differently.
An illustrative practice exercise
Illustrative exercise: a service team tracks completed requests against an agreed response target. The sample distinguishes received, completed and overdue records and includes one reopened request.
- Write the metric definitions.
- prepare a checked summary.
- show the period, target and active filters in the dashboard..
Check the result
Reconcile each measure with a small manual example. Explain whether a zero means no activity, missing data or a measured result.
Confirm the right training scope
Compare the dashboard and data-management pathways. For a private scope, provide approved metric definitions and identify who can resolve disagreements about them.

Compare the published course pathways
These public outlines are starting points for the skills discussed above. A role-specific example or requested workshop topic is not automatically included in every public session. Check the outline and confirm any must-have requirement before booking.
Excel Expert Dashboard
Bring PivotCharts, slicers and reporting views together in an interactive Excel dashboard. Practise organising the dashboard, connecting controls and preparing reports to share, print or export.
